On the occasion of World Whistleblower Day, the CHANCE network joins the European campaign that aims to change the narrative around those who report or expose cases of corruption.
The initiative is one of the outcomes of the European project Open The Whistle, coordinated by Transparency International Spain and co-funded by the European Union. The campaign is being launched simultaneously in Italy, Spain, and Bulgaria (partner countries in the project), by local and national institutions and key civil society organizations.
We choose to join the campaign by embracing the words of its promoters:
‘Shifting the focus from the person who reports wrongdoing in the workplace (the so-called whistleblower) to all of us means taking this responsibility off the shoulders of a few and sharing it collectively, because reporting and the proper functioning of the system are everyone’s responsibility. This approach both promotes the speak-up culture, encouraging people not to stay silent in the face of wrongdoing, and protects the dignity and life plans of those who choose to report, often exposed to isolation, stigmatization, and retaliation’.
CHANCE Network also chooses to contribute to this goal, doing its part to build a stronger system with whistleblowing. Against corruption.
