CHANCE Bulgaria originated from a group of people with an interest in social rights, which gathered in Sofia at the beginning of 2019 for organising an event to celebrate the 21st March, Day of Remembrance and Commitment in memory of the mafias’ innocent victims. The group contributed to the writing of the CHANCE Political Agenda, presented to the European Parliament on the 3rd of April 2019, on the perception of the criminal phenomena in Europe and then became part of the CHANCE network. In June – December 2021, some members of CHANCE – Bulgaria were part of the Social Pillar Working group within the frame of WISE4ALL Challenges (a project that aims to promote the participation of women and young citizens in political decision-making processes in Europe) and contributed to write the toolkit for Civil Society Organisations “GENDERIS4ALL – HOW TO RAISE AWARENESS ON GENDER EQUALITY”. Since March 2020, within the educational sectors of the CHANCE network and in collaboration with the educational sector of Libera, CHANCE Bulgaria has been involved in the creation of educational material that addresses the topics of the fight against organised crime and corruption and active citizenship for the students of Italian as a foreign language.

Open Space Foundation Open Space Foundation was established in 2006 to promote intercultural dialogue and support children and young people in developing their projects in the field of arts, sport and environment. The organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label and is regularly involved in solidarity corps volunteering projects. Among the other initiatives, Open Space volunteers produced a podcast, organised art exhibitions, and created an online library with legends from different countries. From 2007 until 2012 the NGO organised the International Ethno-jazz Festival in the Rhodope Mountains, which attracted more than 380 artists from 23 countries. Besides concerts, more than 30 workshops were provided and the organisation helped some Bulgarian musicians touring abroad. Since 2013, Open Space has been holding a volunteering summer camp in Veliki Preslav, a town in central Bulgaria, which was the second capital of the country and has a big archaeological heritage. Volunteers from all over Europe help archaeologists and museum workers, hold workshops for children and promote the historical and cultural tourism in the town (www.archaeopreslav.com) In 2011 a program to support youth initiatives was launched and since then, after a training and planning period, young people receive funding and supervision to implement their projects. Since 2013, Open Space has been working with colleagues from Europe, Africa and Asia to develop the capacity of youth workers and leaders. Our training and educational programs for self education (available in app F.I.R.E.) help to develop operational and management skills for people active in the civic sector.

Founded in late 1989, the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) is European public policy institute dedicated to the values of democracy and market economy. CSD is a non-partisan, independent organisation fostering the reform process in Europe through impact on policy and civil society.
CSD objectives are: to provide an enhanced institutional and policy capacity for a successful European integration process, especially in the area of justice and home affairs; to promote institutional reform and the practical implementation of democratic values in legal and economic practice; and to monitor public attitudes while serving as a watchdog of the institutional reform process.
Born as a think-tank, CSD has evolved into policy development through dialogue and partnership. CSD provides cutting-edge solutions to transition problems bringing together academia and social practice.
CSD has pioneered in several research and policy areas traditionally perceived as the inviolable public property, such as anti-corruption institutional reform, and national security.
