The 2025 Anti-Mafia Seminar in Berlin Explores New Strategies for Awareness and Prevention
On November 14 and 15, the organization mafianeindanke e.V. will host its 2025 Anti-Mafia Seminar in Berlin, an annual event bringing together experts, journalists, judges, and civil society representatives to discuss the challenges posed by Italian organized crime in Europe.
Under the evocative title “Mafia in Germany: Invisible but Dangerous,” this year’s edition will focus on two emerging themes: media literacy and countering disinformation, as well as the role of digital campaigns in raising awareness among youth.
For several years, Germany has become a key area of operation for Italian mafia organizations, particularly the ’ndrangheta from Calabria. Alarming figures point to its deep-rooted presence, yet prosecutions for criminal association remain rare.
The seminar will be structured around three main themes:
- GREED – The Mafia: Making visible a criminal power embedded in the legal economy.
- MONEY – The Grey Area: Uncovering infiltration mechanisms and the role of financial enablers.
- JUSTICE – Civil Society: Strengthening civic mobilization against corruption and organized crime.
Among the confirmed speakers are Judge Dr. Alessandro Bellardita (AG Karlsruhe), Professor Annamaria Astrologo (O-TiCo Observatory), author Sandro Mattioli (mafianeindanke e.V.), journalists Mandy Sarti (NDR) and Ludwig Kendzia (MDR), as well as researcher Daniel Brombacher (GI-TOC) and Maltese activist Manuel Delia (Repubblika).
We are looking forward to taking part in this event — it promises to be an enriching and inspiring experience!
